Indiana football could see a few players selected in the NFL Draft this week.
The draft begins on Thursday evening with the first round, followed by rounds 2-3 on Friday, and then rounds 4-7 on Saturday. The Hoosiers have several players in the draft, but it would be a surprise if any of them went before Saturday.
IU has had one player picked in each of the last four drafts. Last year, Micah McFadden went in the fifth round to the New York Giants.
The Hoosiers haven’t had more than one player picked in the same draft since 2018, when Ian Thomas went in the fourth round and Chris Covington went in the sixth. IU hasn’t had a player picked in the first three rounds since 2017, when Dan Feeney went in the third.
If a Hoosier is selected this year, this would make 10 years in a row that they’ve had at least one player picked. The last time they were shut out completely was 2013.
IU hasn’t had a player go in the first round since 1994. That streak will continue this year.
Linebacker Cam Jones is widely projected to be selected this year. Just one of the following eight mock drafts doesn’t include him. Cornerback Tiawan Mullen, defensive back Devon Matthews, and offensive tackle Luke Haggard also appear in some mock drafts. But no projections have an IU player going higher than the sixth round.
NFL.com (published April 21) has Jones going in the sixth round, at No. 187 overall to the New England Patriots.
CBS Sports (published April 21) also has Jones in the sixth round, but lower down at No. 215 to the Washington Commanders. This mock draft also sent Mullen to the Tennessee Titans in the seventh round at No. 228.
The Athletic (published April 17) projected Jones in the sixth round as well, at No. 201 to the Houston Texans.
Pro Football Network (published April 22) pegged Matthews as a seventh-round pick, No. 254 overall to the Giants.
Sporting News (published April 25) had Haggard going early in the sixth round, No. 180 overall to the Arizona Cardinals. This mock draft also sent Jones to the Commanders 13 picks later.
Walter Football (published April 25) projected Jones in the sixth round as well, at No. 192 to the Patriots.
Pro Football Focus (published April xx) had Jones going No. 202 overall in the sixth round to the Jacksonville Jaguars. This also has Mullen in the seventh round at No. 236 to the Indianapolis Colts.
ESPN+ (published April 23) put Jones in the seventh round at No. 226 to the Jaguars.
