Around a quarter of the way through the 2023 NFL season, several Hoosiers have been active.
14 players are on rosters across the league, though some of them are on practice squads. Here are updates on six players who have seen action early in the season.
Micah McFadden
The linebacker has gotten off to a strong start to the season. He’s started all four games for the New York Giants, and is playing well despite the team’s disappointing 1-3 record. He’s second on the team with 31 tackles. McFadden has also recorded a team-high five tackles for loss.
Peyton Hendershot
Hendershot has played in three of the Cowboys’ four games, with just one catch for three yards on two targets. The tight end was inactive for this past week’s game against the New England Patriots, but he played more than 45 percent of Dallas’ offensive snaps in two games.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
The wide receiver has played in all four games for the Tennessee Titans, and he’s had a key role in three of the games. He’s totaled 12 receptions on 16 targets for 134 yards and two touchdowns so far. He topped 50 yards in week 1 against the New Orleans Saints and in week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ian Thomas
Thomas has seen action in all four games for the Panthers at tight end this year. He’s made one catch on two targets for eight yards so far, but he’s played over 30 percent of Carolina’s offensive snaps in two games.
Raheem Layne
The safety made his first career start for the Los Angeles Chargers this past week against the Las Vegas Raiders. He’d played only special teams in the team’s first two games, and played just two defensive snaps in week 3. But with LA thin at safety in week 4, Layne played 73 percent of the team’s defensive snaps, and made three total tackles.
Cam Jones
The linebacker has played in all four games as a rookie for the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s only seen action on special teams, not on defense, but he has two total tackles on the season.
Dan Feeney
Now with his hometown Chicago Bears, the interior offensive lineman has played in all four games. He’s seen two offensive snaps and 11 on the kicking team.
Caleb Jones
The offensive tackle has seen one special teams snap thus far with Green Bay.
