Indiana moved up to No. 7 in both the AP media poll and the coaches poll this week.
But the College Football Playoff committee apparently cannot be convinced.
The Hoosiers moved up just one spot to No. 11 in the penultimate College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday evening.
While the ranking is IU’s best ever in the CFP, the playoff rankings continue to be a source of frustration for Hoosier fans.
Indiana has one loss — by seven points to No. 4 Ohio State. Meanwhile, four two-loss teams and an untested Cincinnati squad are all in front of the Hoosiers.
Several of the teams in front of Indiana could lose this week before the final rankings drop on Sunday.
At least three teams in front of the Hoosiers will lose for sure. Here are the relevant games.
No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Clemson meet in the ACC Championship game.
No. 1 Alabama and No. 7 Florida meet in the SEC Championship game.
No. 4 Ohio State faces No. 14 Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship game.
No. 5 Texas A&M plays at Tennessee
No. 6 Iowa State and No. 10 Oklahoma meet in the Big 12 championship game.
No. 9 Cincinnati plays No. 23 Tulsa in the AAC title game.
Indiana is expected to play in a New Year’s Six bowl game as long as they remain in the top-12.
Here are the latest CFP rankings.
