Talk about a win that you can’t feel good about. As the final minutes ticked off the clock, Indiana fans watched with one eye on the game, and one eye on Juwan Morgan. The IU senior forward limped to the bench during a timeout and was attended to by trainers throughout the rest of the game. Archie Miller indicated on his post game session with Don Fischer that he did not have any information on the injury.
Indiana (6-2) hits the road on Tuesday for a Big Ten contest at Penn State.
THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. Turnovers back to reasonable. After several games with high turnover totals, Indiana had 13 in this contest. It didn’t start out that way, with several early miscues. With tight Big Ten games expected virtually every night, taking care of the ball will be paramount. The better ball security helped mask poor free throw and three point shooting.
2. Romeo gets the nod. When Morgan went down in the waning minutes, Miller had a few words one on one with Romeo Langford. Our guess — it was something along the lines of “take the game over.” That’s exactly what he did. The ball was in his hands a lot in the final minutes and he hit a couple big shots that he created off the dribble. If Morgan misses extended time, look for the offense to run through Langford almost exclusively.
3. Welcome to the Big Ten. Today’s game make you uncomfortable? Get used to it. Northwestern was predicted by most to finish well into the bottom half of the league. The reality, there isn’t much difference between teams two through twelve right now. Every game is going to be a battle.
