EAST LANSING, Mich. — Indiana football has made history.
The Hoosiers set a new record for their best start in program history on Saturday, reaching 9-0 with a 47-10 win over Michigan State at Spartan Stadium. IU trailed, 10-0, at the end of the first quarter, but completely dominated the rest of the way.
This is now only the third season in IU history with nine wins — the 2024 Hoosiers join the 1945 and 1967 teams. IU had never won nine in a row to begin a season before this year.
Indiana entered Saturday ranked No. 13 in both the AP Poll and the AFCA Coaches Poll. Those rankings are updated on Sunday, and the College Football Playoff committee will release its first rankings of the year on Tuesday.
IU takes on Michigan next Saturday in Bloomington, with a bye week to follow. The Hoosiers will then face their biggest test of the season, against No. 4 Ohio State in Columbus, before they close out the regular season with the Old Oaken Bucket game against Purdue.
