The seven game postseason winning streak has come to an end.
The IU women’s basketball team lost to Oregon 91-68 on Sunday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The loss snaps a postseason run of success that extended back to last year’s WNIT Championship.
Playing on Oregon’s home court, the Ducks size and dynamic offensive attack was too much on this night.
Oregon shot 52% from the field on 22 assists while outrebounding IU 41-27. Sabrina Ionescu had a triple double for Oregon with 29 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
Indiana had four scorers in double figures led by Ali Patberg with 16 points. Jaelynn Penn added 15 while Grace Berger and Bendu Yeaney had 11 and 10 respectively.
The Hoosiers finished the season with a 21-13 record.
Indiana will return its entire roster next year except for Kym Royster and Grace Withrow. Head coach Teri Moren has also assembled a top 20 recruiting class for 2019.
Note: Sophomore guard Yeaney left the game in the third quarter with an apparent leg injury.
