Sometimes a guy just knows where he wants to go.
That’s how it was with class of 2020 IU football in-state recruiting target Caleb Murphy.
According to his Twitter account, Murphy attended IU’s camp over the weekend. Next came an offer from Coach Tom Allen.
And then, according to 247Sports — acceptance on the spot.
In a post on Twitter announcing his commitment, Murphy referred to Indiana as his “dream school.” The Hoosier native grew up just about an hour south of Memorial Stadium.
At 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, the Campbellsburg (Ind.) native is a big athlete. He plays on both sides of the ball in high school and could end up playing defensive line, tight end or even on the offensive line at IU.
As a junior at West Washington High School, Murphy compiled 84 tackles. A regular in the opposing backfield, he had 11 tackles for loss and 2 sacks.

According to 247Sports, Murphy is a 3-star recruit and the No. 11 ranked player in the state of Indiana.
Murphy held several offers including Ball State, Northern Illinois, Bowling Green and Toledo. He was being recruited by other Big Ten schools including Minnesota, Iowa and Purdue.
For Indiana, Murphy becomes the fifth verbal commit in the 2020 class, with four of the five hailing from the Hoosier state.
