With limited live evaluation periods and limited resources, where a college coaching staff chooses to spend its time in 2021 makes a statement.
When the head coach and all three assistants appear together to watch one player, the message is clear — “We want you, and we want you now.”
National 247Sports recruiting analyst Eric Bossi reported on Saturday that Indiana had all four of its coaches (head coach Mike Woodson, and assistants Kenya Hunter, Dane Fife and Yasir Rosemond) on site at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam to watch national top-30 guard Jalen Hood-Schifino. With national circuit events currently ongoing at three locations (Adidas – Nebraska, UAA – Texas, Nike – South Carolina), this is a significant investment by IU to organize all of its staff in one gym for one player.
Hood-Schifino recently completed an official visit to Indiana in late June, and the message from IU regarding its continuing interest is clear — coming off that visit — this is a player they think they can land.
At the Peach Jam, Hood-Schifino has averaged 17 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 steals through four games for Team Thad, which is 3-1 at the event.
The 6-foot-5 Hood-Schifino is a 4-star prospect who attends Montverde Academy in Florida. He is currently ranked No. 26 overall in the class and the No. 3 combo guard. Indiana competing primarily against Tennessee, Kansas, Georgetown, Florida and Wake Forest.
