Indiana right-handed pitcher Gabe Bierman was drafted in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball draft Monday by the Miami Marlins with the No. 209 overall pick.
Bierman becomes the second Indiana pitcher drafted on the second day of the draft, joining rotation mate McCade Brown, who was taken by the Rockies in the third round.
The 6-foot-2 Bierman was named second-team All-Big Ten this season, his third with the program. He posted a 5-4 record this season with a 2.68 ERA, which ranked second in the Big Ten. He struck out 80 batters in 74 innings, which put him fourth in the conference, and opponents hit just .179 against him, which was the fourth best mark in the Big Ten.
