It’s time to get back to business.
The Indiana baseball program now must transition its focus from its Big Ten regular season crown to the postseason. Step one is the league tournament.
The Big Ten announced the bracket for the 2019 Big Ten Baseball Tournament over the weekend.
The annual event will be held May 22-26 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.
The eight-team, double-elimination tournament begins on Wednesday, with all eight teams playing on day one. No. 1 seed Indiana will host Iowa at 6:00 p.m. Eastern on BTN.
No. 21 IU (36-19, 17-7) swept the Hawkeyes in a three game series at home back in March. The Hoosiers outscored Iowa in the series 23-4.
No. 8 seeded Iowa finished the regular season 30-22 overall and 12-12 in Big Ten action.
The tournament champion will earn the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Indiana appears to be a lock for the NCAA Tournament, but a strong showing this week could still prove beneficial for the Hoosiers. IU is still in contention to be a host of an NCAA Regional the following week.
Similar to prior seasons, BTN will televise all games of the Big Ten Baseball Tournament live, with each game also available on the BTN2Go platform, either online at btn2go.com or through the BTN2Go app.
