The updated 2019 Top247 rankings were released Thursday by 247Sports.
We’ve said it before and it bears repeating — Archie Miller is going “all-in” on his class of 2019. Based on the updated ratings it is once again clear that Indiana is focusing its recruiting at the highest levels. We believe that Indiana is in legitimate contention for at least eight 5-star rated players in the class, and the top 11 players that it is pursuing are all in the Top 100.
While in years past the Hoosiers have had to dip into the lower rated and even unrated groups, that doesn’t appear to be the case now — at least not yet.
James Wiseman is still holding down the No. 1 spot.
Here are the updated 247 Sports Rankings for IU’s primary targets:
(Five-star rated players in bold)
- Matthew Hurt (6)
- Isaiah Stewart (8)
- Keion Brooks, Jr. (9)
- Jalen Lecque (15)
- Trendon Watford (17)
- Trayce Jackson-Davis (21)
- D.J. Carton (23)
- Kira Lewis (24)
- Tre Mann (30)
- Jahmius Ramsey (36)
- Tyrell Terry (88)
(Note – these are 247’s own rankings and not their composite rankings)
The updated ratings reflect big moves up for several players including Stewart (+15), Brooks (+7), Carton (+14), Lewis (+24) and Terry (+151).
Also included in the rankings are in-state players Brandon Newman (140) and Armaan Franklin (131). While Indiana has not offered either player, we understand that the Hoosiers continue to have a strong interest in both and are planning to meet with each player in the coming weeks.
As it currently stands, Indiana has just two open scholarships in its 2019 class, although one of these is presumed to be occupied by Romeo Langford.
