Penn State has seen enough of Grace Berger.
The Indiana junior guard recorded her third triple-double in 16 games as Indiana dominated the second half and cruised to a 90-65 win over Penn State in Bloomington. It was Berger’s second triple-double of the season against Penn State.
With 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, Berger tied the Big Ten all-time record for triple-doubles in a season and the most for a Big Ten player in a career. Berger also has the most all-time for an Indiana player.
“Congratulations to Grace Berger for her third triple-double that she has posted,” IU coach Teri Moren said after the game. “That is pretty special. We knew over there on the sideline that she needed two assists to get it, so we were trying like crazy to put her in a situation where she could feed Mack and we pulled it off. Happy that we could make that happen for a kid that works her rear end off and is a high-level player.”
Overall for the season, Berger is averaging 15.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. She also reached double figures in points, rebounds and assists in earlier games against Eastern Kentucky and at Penn State.
No. 15 Indiana (12-4, 10-2) trailed Penn State 40-39 at halftime but outscored the Nittany Lions 51-25 after the break. Mackenzie Holmes led IU with 25 points, while Ali Patberg chipped in 16 and Aleksa Gulbe added 15.
The Hoosiers will travel to Illinois for a 3 p.m. ET tip in Champaign.
