Indiana University freshman forward Jerome Hunter broke the news on the radio on Monday that he would redshirting for the 2018-19 season.
Hunter suffered an undisclosed medical condition just prior to the beginning of the season and has not seen any action. He had surgery in November.
Archie Miller addressed the decision in his post-game press conference following the loss to Nebraska:
“Physically he’s not able to play right now. It didn’t matter about the time. It’s all about his recovery, and it’s about the process of moving forward for him. He’s not able to play right now.”
Hunter came to IU as a top 50 recruit out of Pickerington, Ohio and was expected to see significant action in his freshman campaign. He played at Hoosier Hysteria and earned the gold practice jersey in the week prior to the start of the season.

Hunter will return for the 2019-20 season as a redshirt freshman.
