Another day, another heartbreaking loss. Indiana loses its 12th game out of its last 13 in overtime at Iowa on Friday night.
The Hoosiers (13-14, 4-12) will face Wisconsin on Tuesday night in Bloomington.
THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
No quit in this team…but they can’t catch a break. FS1 Broadcaster Andy Katz perhaps said it best — if you parachuted in for the game and had no idea that IU had lost 11 of 12, you would never know it by the way they are playing. IU played hard throughout but once again could not close things out down the stretch — a recurring theme throughout the losing skid.
Another recurring theme: Good defense and not enough offense. Sometimes when themes recur — you are who you are. IU’s offense was better than it has been, but still not good enough. The numbers look familiar with Indiana shooting 41% from the field overall, 22% from long range and 55% from the line.
The wasn’t enough to get over the hump despite another strong defensive effort. Indiana held a very good Hawkeye offense to just 63 points in regulation, while shooting just 42%. Both numbers are well under Iowa’s season averages of 80 points per game and 47% from the field.
Jordan Bohannon strikes again. A recurring theme throughout this Indiana season has been that if it is bizarre, it will happen to the Hoosiers. IU had held Bohannon in check the entire game. With three minutes left in regulation, the Hawkeye guard had just three points. He finished with 17 after a series of four daggers from long range to close things out. Bohannon had hit two late threes in Bloomington to effectively end that game as well.
