The awards keep coming for sophomore outfielder Devin Taylor after his prolific 2024 campaign.
Most recently, Taylor was named a Second Team All-American by Perfect Game, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
After being named first team All-Big Ten last month, Taylor was also named a First Team ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) All-Midwest Region selection on Monday, and he was selected to participate in the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp this summer.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native was the catalyst in a historic offensive season for the Indiana Baseball team. He led the team in batting average (.357), hits (86), runs (67) and home runs (20) while starting in 59 of 60 contests. Taylor was the conference leader in both home runs and runs scored.
After being named a Preseason All-American by Perfect Game, Taylor lived up to the hype.
He had 30 multi-hit games and hit home runs in six of his final 10 contests. Over his final 19 games, for which he was moved into the leadoff spot, he hit .373 with 12 home runs. He was a two-time Big Ten Player of the Week this season and became the first Hoosier with 20 long balls in a season during the BBCOR era (since 2011).
Taylor will return to Bloomington next year with a real shot at breaking the program’s all-time home run record.
This summer, Taylor is scheduled to participate in the Team USA Collegiate Training Camp before playing in the Cape Cod League with Cotuit.
UPDATE: On Friday, Taylor was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-American Third Team. He’s the first Hoosier to earn ABCA All-America status since 2014, when former IU standouts Kyle Schwarber, Sam Travis, Dustin DeMuth and Joey DeNato achieved the same feat.
