Indiana redshirt senior center Joey Brunk had back surgery on Wednesday morning and will be out indefinitely according to an IU spokesperson.
“IU Senior Joey Brunk underwent surgery on his back this morning and will continue to be out indefinitely. He started 31 games last year and averaged 6.8 points and 5.2 rebounds,” the IU spokesperson said.
Brunk has not appeared in any games during the 2020-21 season. He graduated from Butler and transferred to IU after the 2018-19 campaign.
The 6-foot-11 and 255 pound Brunk graduated from Southport High School in Indianapolis.
He posted a photo on Twitter from the hospital on Wednesday evening.

Brunk is eligible to return for a sixth season because of the NCAA’s recently enacted eligibility waiver due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
