Indiana’s top big man on the board in the class of 2022 has cut his list down to four.
South Carolina based forward Noah Clowney told Joe Tipton of On3 he will choose between Indiana, Florida, Alabama and Virginia Tech for his college destination.
The 6-foot-10 Clowney is scheduled to take an official visit to Indiana on the last weekend of August. The Hoosiers were one of the first high majors to start recruiting him when they offered a scholarship in April. Since then Clowney has moved into the national rankings as a 4-star recruit and the No. 75 overall prospect in the class of 2022 according to the 247Sports Composite.
Clowney told The Daily Hoosier recently about Indiana’s message.
“He (Mike Woodson) wants to bring an NBA style to college basketball. Because I’m versatile, he thinks I’d be able to play in his system very well. … He showed me a lot of pick-and-roll where I’d get lob opportunities, a lot of one-on-one face-up opportunities, he thinks I could take a lot of people one-on-one. He showed me, along with that pick-and-roll, a lot of slips and pick-and-pops as well to switch it up.”
Indiana has commitments from shooting guard C.J. Gunn and hybrid 3/4 Kaleb Banks in the class of 2022. The Hoosiers appear to have a good shot at landing combo guard Jalen Hood-Schifino when he announces his decision on Aug. 24. The addition of Clowney, who projects as a hybrid 4/5, would be the perfect complement to that class.
Clowney told Tipton he plans to visit his other three finalists in September.
