Indiana (19-13) will face Nebraska on Friday evening at around 9 p.m. ET.
THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. A strong defensive effort. Indiana contained Ace Baldwin, limited Penn State’s shooters, and even utilized a zone at times in the second after Penn State gained momentum. The Lions shot 27.6% from the field including 25% from three, and had 10 turnovers. All of those numbers helped the Hoosiers overcome a 20-of-24 night at the free throw line by Penn State.
2. Another big game from Ware. The 7-footer recorded another double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Ware added three blocks and two steals, and helped foul out PSU big man Qudus Wahab. Malik Reneau and Mackenzie Mgbako chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively, as the starting frontcourt scored 41 of the 61 points.
3. Shorthanded, the guards do enough. Anthony Leal played 24 minutes and made the game-winning shot on an offensive rebound put-back. Leal, Xavier Johnson, and Gabe Cupps all were solid with Trey Galloway out with an injury. They combined for 18 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and combined to hold Baldwin and Penn State’s shooters in check.
