THREE KEYS TO THE GAME
1. Goode and Ballo step up. The two players in the headlines following Indiana’s loss to Illinois had massive games on the road. Oumar Ballo scored 21 points and Luke Goode a career high 23 to lead the Hoosiers. They combined for the game winning offensive rebound, assist and three in overtime as Ballo snared a second chance and found Goode on the wing for a kickout. Goode was 4-of-7 from three, while Ballo had 15 rebounds and four assists. Both players played the entire second half and overtime.
2. Strong second half in the face of adversity. With their season on the brink down six at halftime, Indiana stormed out to a 10-point second half lead and hung on for dear life. The Hoosiers led 68-58 with 5:12 left in regulation, reflecting a 39-23 run out of halftime. But OSU rallied to force overtime, leading to the Goode game-winner with 1:07 left in the extra segment. While they made things interesting, Indiana showed some resilience coming out of the break.
3. Hoosiers keep the turnovers under control, bench steps up. Turnovers plagued IU in their 25-point losses to Iowa and Illinois, but Indiana kept things manageable in this one with just 10 for the game and three in the second half. Meanwhile, IU’s bench outscored the Buckeyes 23-8. Mike Woodson had Trey Galloway come off the bench. He scored seven points while Kanaan Carlyle had 13. Carlyle was critical as IU had to navigate Myles Rice’s foul trouble throughout.
