As we reported last week, Archie Miller and the IU coaching staff have made Puerto Rico point guard Andre Curbelo a clear priority in recent weeks. Hoosier coaches have watched and visited with Curbelo twice in the last two weeks as the fall recruiting live period opened.
The investment appears to be paying off.
Curbelo announced his five finalists via Twitter.

Joining Indiana in the mix are Miami, Illinois, Oregon and St. John’s.
According to Adam Zagoria, Miami and Illinois might have a head start here, as coaches from both schools met with Curbelo’s family in Puerto Rico over the last few days.
The five schools likely represent the five official visits that Curbelo will take in the coming weeks. Recruits are permitted five official visits, and if Curbelo takes all five, Indiana should be in line to have him on campus soon.
Curbelo is rated as the No. 55 player overall in the class of 2020, and the No. 9 point guard.
