The basketball talent coming out of the South Bend, Ind. area is on the rise.
Of course sophomore Damezi Anderson came to IU from South Bend Riley. Class of 2021 recruiting target Blake Wesley attends that same school, and Purdue bound class of 2020 Jaden Ivey is from nearby Mishawaka.
Just a few miles up the road, another rising class of 2021 star is drawing significant Division One attention with high majors starting to take notice.
South Bend St. Joseph product JR Konieczny (pronounced Kah-nez-nee) was the latest incoming junior to visit Bloomington. He released pictures from his Friday unofficial visit to IU on Twitter.
IU unofficial! Thanks Coach Miller, Coach Ostrom, and the rest of the coaching staff for a great visit! ⚪️🔴 #IUBB #hoosiernation pic.twitter.com/aJBx6tIKxP

The 6-foot-7 Konieczny is young for his class, and at 170 pounds, he will need to put on muscle mass to become college ready.
But he is already putting up big numbers while flying a bit under the radar in a deep and talented in-state class of 2021.
As a freshman, Konieczny was third on the varsity team scoring nine points per game. He nearly tripled that average as a sophomore, pouring in 24 a game. He mainly gets his points from the perimeter but can use his handle to get by people and his length to score over people. Known best for his shooting, Konieczny projects as a shooting guard or wing in college.
Konieczny comes from a basketball family. His older sister Nicole was an Indiana All-Star in 2017.
For spring and summer basketball, Konieczny currently is playing AAU for the U16 Indiana Elite program.
He has offers already from Butler, Creighton, Iowa, Valparaiso, Miami (Ohio) and Bradley according to 247Sports. That service indicated that he also visited Ohio State this week.
Konieczny is not currently ranked by the major recruiting service sites.
