Banks picked Indiana over Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech and others. Assistant coach Yasir Rosemond led the way for Indiana on the recruitment.
The Georgia Class 4A Region 5 Player of the Year for the 2020-21 season, Banks averaged 23.5 points per game with Fayette County High School in 2020-21. He plays for the Atlanta Celtics on the Adidas circuit for AAU basketball.
“They really want me. They really want a 3 guy. I think they fit me and I fit them,” Banks told The Daily Hoosier after a mid-June official visit to Indiana.
The Daily Hoosier reached Banks after he announced his commitment, but he was about to play an AAU basketball game and was not immediately available to discuss his decision further. Stay tuned for more coverage.
Banks is Indiana’s second commit in the class of 2022. He joins in-state shooting guard CJ Gunn.
