Avery Brown is a point guard from Connecticut that plays high school basketball in Massachusetts. He plays for Northfield Mount Hermon in Northfield, Mass.
Indiana’s interest in Brown emerged publicly last week when Dushawn London indicated on social media that IU was in contact. Brown confirmed the interest in a recent podcast (see below).
Young in the class of 2021, Brown reclassified to 2022 and the move is paying off with high majors getting involved recently.
The 6-foot-3 guard helped lead his team to the Final Four in the National Prep Championship, while winning the NEPSAC Class AAA championship.
Brown averaged 6.6 points, 4.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game for the 2019-20 season. He broke the school’s single game assist record with 17 in a December contest.
A pass first point guard, Brown is able to set the tempo with his downhill speed. He can score at all three levels. Brown shot 39 percent from three-point range on 56 attempts.
Brown is currently the No. 136 overall player in his class, No. 26 point guard, and the No. 2 player in the state of Connecticut according to the 247Sports Composite.
For AAU basketball Brown plays for the PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Penn State, Ohio State, Yale, St. John’s, Missouri and UConn are some of the top schools involved with Brown right now. He also holds multiple Ivy League and HBCU offers.
