As the calendar turns to April, IU’s coaching staff would have been starting detailed due diligence on recruits in the younger classes were it not for the pandemic.
One player in the sophomore class that is intriguing to Midwest high major programs is Jeffersonville’s Will Lovings-Watts. Playing in southern Indiana, just across the Ohio River from Louisville, Lovings-Watts is a long and athletic guard/wing that is a good defender with an impressive wingspan.
For his sophomore season Lovings-Watts averaged 13 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game for Jeffersonville. He shot 49 percent from the field overall including 29 percent from three-point range, and 71 percent from the free throw line.
The 6-foot-4 Lovings-Watts is ranked No. 76 nationally by recruiting service 247Sports and he is the No. 4 player from Indiana in the class of 2022. Lovings-Watts plays for the Indiana Elite Adidas AAU program.
Lovings-Watts has interest from Indiana, Purdue, Louisville and others.
