There aren’t many in the in-state class of 2023 we can say this about, but it seems highly likely whoever takes over as the next head coach of IU basketball will continue the school’s recruitment of Crispus Attucks forward Jalen Hooks.
The 6-foot-7 Hooks is physically gifted, tough-minded, is an impressive finisher at the rim, can handle the ball for his size, has good vision, guards the ball well, and is a good rim protector. At this point he just needs to become more consistent and develop all of his skills to the next level, especially his shooting ability.
Hooks averaged 11.1 points in 24 games for a highly talented Attucks team. He pulled down 8.4 rebounds, passed out 3.3 assists, and added 2 blocks and 1.7 steals per contest. He is the No. 55 player in the class nationally according to the most recent 247Sports rankings.
His sophomore season highlights are below. He is No. 33. For our story on Hooks from the summer, GO HERE.
