The Washington D.C. metro area has been a major area of recruiting focus by Indiana since Kenya Hunter was hired in 2020.
One class of 2025 player from the DMV IU has been in regular contact with this summer is small forward Nate Ament.
A 6-foot-7 wing from Highland H.S. (Manassas, Va.), Ament had a breakout spring playing with the Team Loaded NC program on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. He averaged a team-high 15.4 points while shooting 37.8 percent from three.
According to the On3 Industry Average, Ament is the No. 20 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 3 small forward.
On3’s Jamie Shaw wrote about Ament’s skillset in July at the Adidas 3SSB Championships:
“Has a great frame, very projectable with great length. The unique aspect of his game is his ball skills. He is confident handling the ball as a primary initiator. He delivers good passes and can knock down threes off the bounce or the catch. You like the upside here.”
Ament told Rivals’ Rob Cassidy that Indiana was one of the schools that are in contact with him the most, and he’s considering a visit to Bloomington. That was just the latest of several reports over the summer that involved an IU mention by Ament.
So far Ament has visits set to Duke, Virginia and Iowa this fall.
