Indiana will host national top-20 class of 2025 point guard Mikel Brown for a visit this weekend, a source tells The Daily Hoosier.
Brown is playing games for Overtime Elite in Indianapolis on Thursday and Friday of this week. IU coach Mike Woodson and assistant Brian Walsh were in attendance to watch Brown on Thursday evening at Woodson’s alma mater, Broad Ripple H.S.
The 6-foot-3 Brown communicates regularly with Woodson and Walsh.
Coming into Thursday night, Brown was averaging 12.9 points and 5.4 assists for the Cold Hearts team in the Overtime League. He’s shooting 39 percent from three and 90 percent at the free throw line.
According to the On3 Industry Average, Brown is the No. 16 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 3 point guard.
Brown recently signed an NIL deal with Adidas, the same shoe company that sponsors Indiana.
The Daily Hoosier caught up with Brown over the summer and he talked about the one-and-done season of Jalen Hood-Schifino at IU.
“When I first saw him (Hood-Schifino) come in, I assumed he was a two-year player, but seeing how they let him go from the jump, let him be who he is, that was really good,” Brown told The Daily Hoosier. “And when I watched him play, he was a very smooth player, makes his teammates better, he was a leader. It was phenomenal how they just let him rock, and that’s pretty big for me.”
Woodson, Walsh and Yasir Rosemond also went to Atlanta to watch Brown play with Overtime this winter.
It has been mentioned Brown could reclassify to the class of 2024, his natural class for his age, but he has not decided on that option.
Brown recently took visits to Alabama, Ole Miss, and South Florida.
The Orlando, Fla. product played last season at Sunrise Christian before transferring to OTE.
Brown comes from a family of athletes with his father playing basketball in college at USC Aiken and West Florida and mom played volleyball in college.
Class of 2026 5-star Jalen Montonati is also visiting Indiana on Sunday when the Hoosiers host Northwestern.
