Indiana continues to emphasize length as it dipped back into Texas for another 2024 prospect.
The IU staff offered Dink Pate on Tuesday, he announced on his Twitter page.
A Dallas, Texas product, Pate attends Pinkston H.S. He played there as a freshman before transferring to Prolific Prep and then returning to Pinkston for his junior campaign. Pate averaged 18 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game as a high school freshman before bouncing around as a sophomore between multiple schools.
Pate is a 4-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 32 overall player in the class, and the No. 9 shooting guard according to that rankings aggregation. He is described as anything from a point guard to a small forward depending on the outlet, but he definitely appears to aspire to the former. His length and versatility to play multiple spots are no doubt a major part of the appeal to IU.
The 6-foot-7 Pate plays for Team Trae Young on the Adidas 3SSB circuit and he played up a year during the spring and summer. His stats on the Adidas site are 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
Along with Indiana, Pate has offers from Arizona, Arkansas, UCF, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Texas, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, LSU, Washington State, TCU, Houston, Texas A&M, and others.
