Indiana is capitalizing on relationships in the Washington D.C. metro area to get involved in one of the most competitive recruitments in the class of 2026.
Jordan Smith, Jr. announced on Thursday afternoon he received an offer from the new IU staff.
Smith is a 5-star prospect according to ESPN, 247Sports and Rivals. He’s a consensus national top-10 prospect and the No. 1 shooting guard in the glass.
Playing for Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.), Smith helped lead his nationally ranked high school team to a 27-6 record against national and top regional competition.
On film the 6-foot-2 Smith looks the part of a tough, physical and aggressive guard who plays with an alpha mindset. He’s an elite defender, an efficient scorer and plays with high-end motor. Smith has a wingspan of roughly 6-foot-9.
For spring and summer basketball Smith plays for Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL Circuit. That’s a program IU assistant coach Kenny Johnson served for more than six years as a director and head of travel and logistics.
While playing with Team Takeover in the Nike EYBL’s first session in Arizona last month he posted averages of 22.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game, while shooting 60 percent from the field.
This past summer Smith was a member of the Gold-Medal Winning USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team in Istanbul, Turkey.
Smith has the elite offer list you’d expect for a player of his caliber, including Duke, Louisville, Kentucky, Tennessee, Kansas, UConn, Michigan, North Carolina, Houston, Arkansas and many others.
