IU basketball coach Mike Woodson will speak at the New York Basketball Coaches Clinic on Sept. 13 at Stepinac H.S. in White Plains, N.Y.
That just happens to be the high school that IU class of 2024 priority point guard target Boogie Fland attends.
And the date just happens to fall during an NCAA authorized recruiting period when coaches can make in-person contact with prospects.
So the stop at Stepinac is more than just the former head coach of the New York Knicks speaking to New York area basketball coach. It will also afford the chance for Woodson to visit with Fland in just over a month.
But he’ll have company. It turns out the speaking roles at this particular clinic were heavily influenced by Fland’s recruitment.
Also speaking at the coaches clinic are Kentucky’s John Calipari, and Alabama’s Nate Oats. Both of those programs are in Fland’s top-eight schools, and thought of as some of his main contenders.
The clinic is sandwiched in between Fland’s visits to Kentucky and Alabama. He’s scheduled to visit Kentucky September 8-10, Alabama September 22-24, and Maryland September 29th-October 1.
In July, Fland announced his top eight schools: Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, St. John’s, and UConn.

Ranked the No. 1 point guard in the 2024 class by the On3 Industry Average, and the No. 7 player overall, Fland visited Indiana in June.
“It was great,” Fland told The Daily Hoosier of his visit to IU. “I love their environment, love the coaching staff, the fans are nice, everything about it is cool. It was all around great, I really liked it. I enjoyed myself.”
