Soon after Indiana landed Arizona center Oumar Ballo, another post prospect considering the Hoosiers removed IU from his list of contenders.
Kentucky, Mississippi State, and St. John’s are the final schools for Drexel center Amari Williams, according to multiple Thursday evening reports.
Williams was scheduled to visit Indiana this weekend.
Stanford guard Kanaan Carlyle is still expected on campus beginning Friday, and Grace College center Elijah Malone completed his visit on Thursday. Indiana appears to still be a solid contender for both Carlyle and Malone.
Minnesota transfer big man Pharrel Payne took a visit to IU recently, but his process could be impacted by the Ballo decision as well. Ryan James of 247Sports is reporting Payne is visiting Texas A&M this weekend, followed by visits to Texas and Oregon. At this point Payne appears unlikely to land at Indiana.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin transfer guard Connor Essegian, who visited IU on Wednesday, continued touring potential landing spots on Thursday.
According to Robin Washut of Husker Online, Essegian was at the Nebraska campus on Thursday.
Essegian previously visited Maryland, South Carolina, and Indiana, and he canceled a scheduled visit to Michigan.
Essegian’s decision could come down to IU and Nebraska.
Indiana has landed Ballo and Washington State point guard Myles Rice in the transfer portal so far this offseason. They’ve also signed class of 2024 wing Bryson Tucker.
The Hoosiers still have four more scholarships available for next season.
