Two of the 2025 prospects Indiana is recruiting the hardest right now gave their thoughts on the Hoosiers and other programs in reports by the national recruiting outlets over the last week.
7-footer Malachi Moreno is one of Indiana’s main frontcourt targets in the 2025 class.
Moreno spoke with On3’s Joe Tipton about the Hoosiers:
“Being on an adidas circuit team (Indiana Elite) and just knowing they’re one of the biggest adidas schools and I know my close relationship with adidas. If I go there, then I know I’m going to be set up. Coach (Mike) Woodson’s resume in the NBA and how he worked with Trayce Jackson-Davis for two years and turned him into probably the best big men in the country. That just really shows what he can do with someone of my style of play.”
It’s all fours when it comes to Moreno in the rankings. According to the On3 Industry Average, he’s a 4-star prospect, the No. 44 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 4 center.
The Georgetown, Ky. product told Tipton he wants to decide on a college next June, and said Kentucky, Arkansas, Notre Dame, Auburn, Indiana, Ohio State, and Baylor are the most active in his recruitment right now.
Moreno’s high school coach confirmed with The Daily Hoosier he’ll be in attendance for the IU vs. Kansas game Saturday.
2025 point guard Darius Acuff is also hearing from Indiana regularly.
He spoke with 247Sports national reporter Dushawn London about IU:
“I talk with Indiana everyday and coach Woodson is a great coach. I love them and their offense. They let their guards play in the pick and roll and play their game. They try and get the best out of their players.”
From Detroit, Acuff transferred to IMG Academy in Florida for his junior season. According to the On3 Average, he’s a 4-star prospect, the No. 10 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 1 point guard.
The 6-foot-1 Acuff continues to say he wants to visit Indiana.
Acuff told London he’s not looking to narrow his recruitment until after his high school season. UConn, Houston, Michigan, Indiana, Rutgers and Kentucky were mentioned as some of the top programs he hears from.
