With Indiana men’s basketball out of the Big Ten Tournament, the Hoosiers will be watching scoreboards leading up to Selection Sunday.
IU sits squarely on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament, and needs to hope results go its way in conference tournaments around the country. Essentially, the Hoosiers need to root against chaos — they need to pull for any teams comfortably in the field of 68 facing teams slated to miss the tournament, and they need to root for other bubble teams to lose.
With that in mind, here are the relevant games across the country on Friday, with the team IU should be rooting for in bold.
- VCU vs. St. Bonaventure, 11:30 a.m. ET, USA Network
- Liberty vs. Kennesaw State, 12:30 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network
- Memphis vs. Wichita State, 1 p.m. ET, ESPN2
- Tennessee vs. Texas, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
- Duke vs. North Carolina, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN
- UC San Diego vs. UC Santa Barbara, 9 p.m. ET, ESPN+
- UC San Diego is an interesting case. The Tritons are favorites to win the Big West Tournament, and IU is probably best off if they do that. But if they advance to the conference championship game and lose, their run to that point could help strengthen their case for an at-large bid. Still, with UC Irvine seemingly very unlikely to sneak in as an at-large team, it’s probably best for Indiana if UCSD takes care of business.
- New Mexico vs. Boise State, 9:30 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network
