As we’ve previously reported, Indiana basketball is playing in the Empire Classic in New York City as part of its 2023-24 non-conference schedule.
Joining the Hoosiers for the Nov. 19-20 event at Madison Square Garden is defending national champion UConn, along with Texas and Louisville.
Tickets for the event have gone on sale. A Ticketmaster link to the event can be found by clicking here. You may need to use the code GAZSOCIAL.
The matchups have not been announced, but a ticket is good for two games. Separate tickets must be purchased for each day of the event. The Semifinal Doubleheader starts Sunday November 19th at 1:00 p.m. Eastern, and the Championship Doubleheader starts Monday November 20th at 4:30 p.m.
IU holds a record of 14-12 all time in games played at MSG.
The series of games will mark a homecoming for Indiana head coach Mike Woodson, who was the head coach of the New York Knicks from 2012-14. Woodson was drafted 12th overall in the 1980 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks and played with the franchise from 1980-81. He also served two stints as an assistant coach with the Knicks from 2011-12 and 2020-21.
This will mark IU’s second appearance in the Empire Classic. They defeated Washington, 102-84, in the opening round of the 2013 Empire Classic before falling to UConn, 59-58, in the title game.
First played in 1995, the Empire Classic benefits the Wounded Warrior Project.
