The components of Indiana’s 2022-23 nonconference schedule continue to leak out.
The Daily Hoosier can confirm a report by Rocco Miller that the Hoosiers will face Elon as part of the upcoming season.
According to Miller’s report, the game will be played in December at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
This will be the first ever meeting between Indiana and Elon.
Hailing from the Colonial Athletic Conference, Elon finished the 2021-22 season ranked No. 247 at KenPom with a 10-22 record. They were led last season by former IU basketball manager Mike Schrage. He left that role to become a special assistant to new Duke head coach Jon Scheyer.
In Schrage’s place at Elon is new head coach Billy Taylor, a Notre Dame alumnus and former Ball State head coach. He’ll know Indiana well after spending the last three seasons as an assistant under Fran McCaffery at Iowa.
Seven Elon players and six of the top-seven scorers from 2021-22 put their name in the transfer portal following the season.
With this news, nine of Indiana’s 11 nonconference opponents for the 2022-23 season are now known. Here are the details:
