The annual transfer portal extravaganza provides an opportunity for top talent in lower levels of college basketball to take a step up.
That appears to be the next move for Division II standout Elyjah Freeman of Lincoln Memorial (Harrogate, Tenn.).
Freeman is one of the top-50 prospects at any level in the transfer portal according to the national recruiting outlets.
The 6-foot-8 freshman averaged 18.8 points and 9.2 rebounds this season. He shot 57% from the filed and 46% from three. Freeman earned South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year and first-team all-league honors.
He should have three years of eligibility remaining, although recent developments could give him four years at the Division I level.
Reports indicate Freeman has already visited Indiana. Several other high majors have been involved, including Kentucky, Tennessee and Michigan.
Freeman attended Wellington H.S. in Palm Beach, Fla.
