As Indiana shows interest in transfer portal prospects we’ll provide a quick profile with our transfer portal names to know series.
Of course we’ll cover prospects more if things progress beyond initial interest.
Next up is Eastern Kentucky guard Leland Walker. And for many, this may be more of a refresher course than a new name to know.
Indianapolis native Leland Walker is a player we’ve covered before. Indiana recruited him going back to Archie Miller’s time at IU.
Mike Woodson’s Indiana staff reached out to Walker almost immediately on Tuesday when his name hit the transfer portal, The Daily Hoosier was told.
The Indianapolis North Central H.S. product attended Hargrave Military Academy as a high school senior before enrolling at EKU in 2022.
The 6-foot-1 and 185 pound Walker earned first team All-ASUN honors as a sophomore in 2023-24.
Walker led the ASUN regular season champions in scoring (15.4 ppg) and assists (4.1 apg). He also averaged 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals. The sophomore guard shot 43.3% overall including 34.2% from three. He also made 83.2% of his free throws.
Walker had a game-high 20 points and dished out six assists at Alabama. He scored a career-best 29 points in a win over North Florida. He had a career-high four 3-pointers and scored 26 points at Stetson. He had 10 assists against Jacksonville and broke the EKU single game record for assists with 16 against Wilberforce.
As a freshman a year ago, Walker played in all 37 games and started three times. He averaged 9.4 points, 2.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 0.8 steals per game.
Walker should have two years of eligibility remaining. His sophomore season highlights are below.
