Dylan Darling, the Big Sky Player of the Year from Idaho State, is a name to know in the transfer portal.
On3 national analyst Jamie Shaw is reporting IU is in contact with the Washington native.
The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 19.8 points per game while shooting 44.1% from the field overall and 35.6% from three. He was 81% from the free throw line. Darling added 5.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.
In Big Sky games, Darling averaged 23.2 points per game and 5.9 assists through the 18 contests. Darling was also unanimously selected as the league’s Newcomer of the Year and to the league’s All-Conference First Team.
This was Darling’s first season with Idaho State after starting his career at Washington State where he was a teammate of former Hoosier Myles Rice.
In 2023-24 Darling medically redshirted after playing two games in the nonconference and suffering a season-ending injury in practice.
As a true freshman in 2022-23 he played in 25 games, starting four times. He averaged 1.7 points, 0.6 assists, and 1.7 rebounds per game that season.
The Spokane, Wash. product is the son of former Washington State and NFL linebacker James Darling.
Darling should have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
At Central Valley H.S. Darling was named Washington’s 4A Player of the Year in 2022. He capped his high school career with a record-setting senior season as the lefty averaged 33.2 points (on 55% shooting) while adding 8.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 4.4 steals per game.
