A well known IU legacy athlete has entered the transfer portal.
Illinois reserve wing Luke Goode is looking for a new home, according to multiple reports.
Goode is the son of former IU football wide receiver Craig Goode, and the nephew of former Hoosiers star quarterback Trent Green. Another uncle, Curt Goode, also played football for IU.
The 6-foot-7 Goode enters the portal with three years of Big Ten experience under his belt.
In 20.1 minutes per game in 2023-24, Goode averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest for the Illini. His shooting splits were 45.5% from two, 38.9% from three, and 65.2% from the foul line.
Goode ranked first on the team in 3-point percentage and second in 3-pointers made (61).
Regarded as a perimeter shooting specialist, Goode has made 38.8% of his three-point attempts on 219 attempts over his three years at Illinois. He has only attempted 46 two-pointers during his college career.
Goode was Academic All-Big Ten each of the last two years. He has graduated from Illinois with a business degree.
Led by then head coach Archie Miller, IU was involved with Goode’s recruitment when he was a star athlete at Homestead H.S. in Fort Wayne, Ind. But Miller never extended an offer.
Goode was a four-star recruit ranked No. 100 by the 247Sports Composite. Teamed with Purdue’s Fletcher Loyer at Homestead, Goode averaged 19.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 40.4% from 3-point range as a senior. Homestead went 25-1.
Goode has one year of eligibility remaining. He played just 10 games in 2022-23, so there might be a path to a fifth season via a medical hardship waiver.
IU currently has three available scholarships for 2024-25.
