Indiana and Illinois tip-off at 7 p.m. ET on Peacock.
———————————————————————–
FINAL: Illinois 94, Indiana 69
SECOND HALF
Ballo has been tossed. Warranted though. No reason for him to come in as late as he did.
Scuffle at the end of a dead ball. Initially, Tomislav Ivisic got in the face of Luke Goode, and Oumar Ballo came in later and one-handed pushed him to the ground. Nothing much after that. Frustration at an all-time high around this team right now.
90-61 Illini with 3:46 to go.
- Luke Goode with 13 points against his former team, just knocked down his first three of the night. Decent individual game from him.
Illinois up 79-51 with 7:34 left.
- The stands are getting emptier with each stoppage of play, especially in the student section. I could probably count the amount of people left in that area by the end of the game.
- Jakai Newton getting some minutes out of the timeout. Good to see him back on the floor.
Illinois leads 69-48 with 11:50 left in the game.
- It’s not much, and probably meaningless to the result, but Indiana is slowly chipping away. Oumar Ballo has had a pretty good game all things considered. 14 points and 13 rebounds, and had a pretty nice assist in the first half.
- Kasparas Jakucionis is pro-ready. He handles the ball very well and can score at all three levels. He has 21 points on the night.
Illinois leads 64-42 with 15:23 left.
- About as good as a start you could ask for if you’re Indiana. They’ve held Illinois to 2-of-10 to start the half and are 2-of-5 with six free throws for themselves. Still, tons of work to do.
HALFTIME: Illinois 60, Indiana 32
FIRST HALF
Illinois lead grows to 52-24 with 3:54 in the half.
- I know it’s a short history for myself, but I have never heard IU fans this frustrated during a game than tonight. “Fire Woodson” chants broke out in the student section, crowds booed Indiana during their possessions. Attendees are making their voices heard.
- And rightfully so. Indiana hasn’t knocked down a three and has given up 10 offensive rebounds. Illinois is outclassing them in every aspect of the game.
Illinois leads 43-20 with 6:59 left to play.
- Wow. Indiana is getting toasted, and the crowd continues to voice their frustration. Illinois with eight offensive rebounds, and is 7-of-14 from three.
- Hoosiers themselves are 9-of-24 from the field so far tonight, and 0-of-4 on 3s.
Illinois up 27-12 with 10:43 left in the half.
- Rough stretch for the Hoosiers. Two makes on their last 12 attempts. Meanwhile, Illinois is shooting 58% from the field and has five offensive rebounds.
- Trey Galloway pretty much got booed to the bench earlier in the stretch. Missed two threes in a row, one an airball, and the fans let him hear it. Very tense feeling in Assembly Hall right now.
Illinois leads 12-8 through the first media timeout, with 15:56 left to play in the half.
- IU’s defense does not look good at all in the first couple of minutes. No real pressure on the perimeter, and Illinois has already knocked down two 3s. Not enough emphasis on getting a hand up yet.
- The Hoosiers are 4-9 from the field themselves. No attempts from beyond the arc yet.
Indiana timeout on a tie-up, Illinois leads 5-4.
- Jakucionis with no step missed. He’s got Illinois’ first five by himself.
PREGAME
- Reneau and Cupps are both listed as OUT for tonight. Jakai Newton and Kanaan Carlyle are questionable but are warming up to play.
- Kasparas Jakucionis entered the game questionable with a forearm injury but is going through warmups and looks to be prepared to play.
- Jakucionis is in the starting lineup for Illinois. Indiana going with their recent usual: Rice, Galloway, Goode, Mgbako, Ballo.
