Indiana and the Buckeyes tip-off at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
———————————————————————–
SECOND HALF
Indiana up 59-55 with 7:27 left.
- Oumar Ballo has just been unstoppable on the low block. 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting. Clinical night once again for the big man.
- The Hoosiers are shooting 64 percent in the second half, and have gone 3 of 6 from beyond the arc.
- Interestingly enough, Kanaan Carlyle has been matched up on Bruce Thorton with Leal also in. He’s had a few really good defensive possessions for IU tonight.
Hoosiers take a 50-48 lead with 11:43 left.
- Indiana starting to heat up. They’re six for their last eight attempts from the field. Luke Goode leads all scorers with 18 points.
- Micah Parrish has been held scoreless on OSU’s offense, which has played a big part in Indiana chipping away. Had 12 in the first half.
Indiana cuts Ohio State’s lead to 41-40 with 16:17 left to play.
- Nice start on offense for Indiana. The Buckeyes haven’t come up with a surefire solution to stop Ballo in the paint yet. He’s IU’s leading scorer with 14. Goode is right behind him with 12.
- Foul trouble something to keep an eye on, though. Rice has only played seven minutes with three fouls, and Leal just went to the bench with his third.
HALFTIME: Ohio State 35, Indiana 29
FIRST HALF
Ohio State leads 32-26 with 3:12 left in the half.
- Ohio State is starting to get in a groove on offense. They’ve made all of their last four attempts. Micah Parrish up to 12 points, and Bruce Thorton with nine.
- Although shots aren’t falling, Kanaan Carlyle is playing with a bit more confidence then I’ve seen in recent times. If they start to fall for him, it could unlock another level for the team.
All tied up at 20 with 7:21 left in the half.
- A few nice possessions on offense for Indiana. They’re emphasizing crashing the offensive glass, something OSU has had problems with limiting this season. Five offensive rebounds so far for IU.
- Still, the Hoosiers haven’t capitalized fully on some open looks from 3. They’re 1-for-7 so far.
Buckeyes lead 13-11 with 11:40 left in the half.
- Outside of Ballo, the Hoosiers haven’t been able to find a consistent scoring option. The Hoosiers are 5-of-13 from the field to start.
- With some injuries also hitting OSU, they’re going to need a few guys to step up. Micah Parrish has been one of them. He has eight points already and only averages 10 a game.
Ohio State leads 7-6 through the first media timeout. 15:53 left in the first half.
- Hoosiers looking inside to Ballo early. He’s had a touch in nearly every offensive possession if not all. All six points early for him.
- Anthony Leal is matched up on Bruce Thorton, who has been stellar recently. Averaging over 17 points a game heading into this one.
PREGAME NOTES
- Bryson Tucker is OUT for tonight, and Malik Reneau and Gabe Cupps remain OUT. Jakai Newton is listed as QUESTIONABLE.
- For OSU, Meechie Johnson and Devin Royal are both OUT.
- Notable lineup change for tonight. Anthony Leal will see his first start of the season, along with Rice, Goode, Mgbako and Ballo.
