———————————————————————–
FINAL: Indiana 82, USC 69
SECOND HALF
Hoosiers lead 73-65 with 3:02 to play.
- Quality game from a lot of Hoosiers, but Ballo gets the game ball for me once again. 21 points and eight boards on 8 for 10 shooting. I’m struggling to think of centers in the Big Ten, let alone the country, who would be able to lock him down.
- Rice has also done a bit of everything tonight. 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists, a block and a steal.
Indiana up 65-52 with 7:56 left to play.
- What a sequence to head into the media timeout. Carlyle finds Galloway long down the floor who then feeds it to Goode across the baseline for a 3 and a foul. 6-0 run for Indiana in the last 1:55.
- Goode is the second leading scorer for Indiana with 14, with a chance at one more. Ever since he’s found the starting lineup, he’s been nothing but clinical.
Hoosiers’ lead grows to 57-47 with 11:43 left to play.
- Great effort continuing on the defensive end for Indiana. USC are now two for their last 10 and have not scored in 2:44. Just nine points scored in the half so far.
- And Indiana is doing this without any point production from Mgbako tonight. Indiana is 5-for-17 from beyond the arc as well.
Indiana with a 47-41 lead over the Trojans with 16:21 left.
- Indiana continuing to show a really good defensive effort. USC has no makes from their last four attempts and 2:38.
- On the other side, IU has made its last four attempts. Up to 46 percent from the field tonight.
HALFTIME: Indiana 38, USC 38
FIRST HALF
28-26 USC with 3:54 in the half.
- Hoosiers still chipping away on offense, but have had a few really good defensive sequences. Trojans are one for their last seven.
- Oumar Ballo has yet to get going so far. Four points on one field goal attempt so far. USC doing a good job of keeping him out of the paint and doubling when they need to.
24-18 Trojans with 7:49 left in the half.
- Tucker with a few midrange hits off the bench. He has four points in five minutes played. Hoosiers still shooting just 35 percent from the field so far.
- Kanaan Carlyle with two misses coming off the bench. Indiana could unlock so much more on offense if he gets going. Just a tough slump for him so far. Shooting 28 percent from the field so far this season.
Timeout Indiana with 12:22 in the first half, USC up 17-9.
- No energy in the building right now. Very light crowd in the arena, which may have to do with the surrounding weather the past few days. Definitely filtering down to the Hoosiers so far.
- Mgbako has tried to shoot himself out of a slump early on in the game, and it’s not working. No makes on seven attempts so far.
USC leads 11-9 at the first media timeout. 15:04 left in the first half.
- Colder start for Indiana on offense. Just 4 of 12 from the field so far. Rice is the leading scorer with four.
- USC has gotten a few lucky breaks on offense. They’re 6-9 from the field so far, but a few possessions were near turnovers for Indiana.
