Indiana added one of the top playmakers from a very good James Madison defense via the portal.
Defensive lineman Mikail Kamara announced on Tuesday he is headed to Bloomington to rejoin head coach Curt Cignetti.
The 6-foot-1 and 265-pound Kamara has two years of eligibility remaining.
Kamara was a disruptive force for JMU on the edge in 2023, with 17.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, five QB hits, and three forced fumbles. He was second team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2023. Kamara departs James Madison with 26.5 tackles for a loss and 13.5 sacks in his career.
The defensive end ranks tied for eighth nationally and fourth in the SBC with 1.5 TFL per game. His three forced fumbles also rank top 20 nationally and tied for fourth in the league. Kamara made at least a full TFL in 11 of 12 games, including a career-high 3.0 at Troy.
Kamara is from Ashburn, Va. where he attended Stone Bridge H.S.
Pittsburgh and Cincinnati also offered Kamara after he entered the portal two weeks ago.
Kamara will not play for James Madision in the Armed Forces Bowl this weekend.
