Indiana continued a productive day on Friday with the addition of Stanford transfer cornerback Nicolas Toomer from the portal.
Toomer announced a commitment to Indiana via his social media accounts. He took a visit to IU earlier this week.
The 6-foot-2 and 185-pound Toomer played in 11 games and had seven tackles and two pass break-ups in 2022 for the Cardinal. Overall he was in the Stanford program for four seasons and played in a total of 21 games. He recorded 29 total tackles, 18 solo, five passes defended, and had one tackle for loss.
Toomer attended high school at Sandy Creek (Ga.) where he was rated a 3-star and the No. 83 corner in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. The IU staff recruited him aggressively out of high school.
Toomer is a graduate transfer, and he should have two years of eligibility remaining at Indiana.
Indiana lost both starting cornerbacks — Tiawan Mullen and Jaylin Williams — following the 2022 season, so there will be an opportunity for Toomer to come in and start right away. The Hoosiers also added Texas transfer cornerback Jamier Johnson last month.
Earlier on Friday IU added Clemson transfer receiver E.J. Williams, and Wake Forest transfer running back Christian Turner.
