Indiana’s wave of transfer portal commitments continued into Saturday as the Hoosiers bolstered their wide receiver room.
Fordham transfer wideout Dequece Carter announced on Saturday morning via his social media accounts he will play at Indiana next season.
The 6-foot and 196-pound Carter had 56 receptions for 1,166 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2022.
The Louisa, Virginia product (Woodberry Forest H.S.) has 176 receptions for 3,036 yards (17.2 yards per catch) and 31 touchdowns over his 38 game, four-year career.
Carter has one season of eligibility remaining.
In high school Carter was the 2018 Virginia Prep School Player of the Year, central Virginia’s all-time leading receiver, and a three-time All-State honoree. He was rated a 2-star recruiting prospect with some FBS interest at that time.
Carter is IU’s second wide receiver addition in the last two days from the transfer portal. Yesterday the Hoosiers landed a commitment from Clemson transfer E.J. Williams.
The late additions of Williams and Carter should help mitigate the loss of D.J. Matthews to eligibility. His fellow starter Cam Camper will be back but is in rehabilitation after tearing his ACL. IU is also expected to return Emery Simmons, Donaven McCulley, Andison Coby and several other promising young prospects.
Carter also announced transfer portal offers from Tulane, UConn, Old Dominion, Washington State, Appalachian State and James Madison.
