Indiana picked up a commitment from class of 2023 in-state tight end Sam West on Saturday afternoon.
West plays quarterback for Greensburg High School but was being recruited at the Power Five level to play tight end.
“I wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for the blessings God has granted me with including my ability, family, coaches, teammates, and all who have made a positive influence on me,” West said in his announcement.
“Big thank you to all schools who reached out during the process and gave me an opportunity. Thank you to Coach (Kevin) Wright and Coach (Tom) Allen for the opportunity to play at Indiana.
“I’m excited to announce I’ll be furthering my education and football career at Indiana University!”
The 6-foot-5 and 205 pound West recently visited Rutgers, Cincinnati and Purdue and also held offers from Tennessee, Iowa State and several Group of Five programs.
According to 247Sports, West is a 3-star prospect and the No. 32 tight end in his class.
West joins Bloomington South defensive back Daeh McCullough as the program’s second class of 2023 commit.
