IU football picked up its second 2023 offensive lineman commit on Friday when 3-star Austin Barrett announced his pledge to the Hoosiers.
“Thank you (head) Coach (Tom) Allen and (offensive line) Coach (Darren) Hiller for the opportunity and I can’t wait to play for you!” Barrett wrote in a message published on social media. “GO HOOSIERS!!!!”
Hailing from St. Charles, Ill., Barrett is ranked the No. 70 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 837 recruit nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Barrett is Indiana’s second offensive line commit in the 2023 class, joining William Larkins. He is the seventh overall commit in IU’s 2023 class.
The 6-foot-7, 275-pound Barrett chose Indiana over offers from Boston College, Illinois, Duke, Akron, Miami (OH), Central Michigan, UConn, Iowa State, Kansas, Northern Illinois, Syracuse, Toledo, Kansas State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Cincinnati, and Western Michigan.
