IU added another transfer defender on Wednesday morning via the portal.
Former Austin Peay linebacker Joshua Rudolph announced his commitment to Indiana on his Twitter page.
From Montgomery, Ala., the 5-foot-11 and 230-pound Rudolph saw action in 11 games during his 2022 sophomore season and produced 73 tackles including 7.5 for a loss for the Governors.
As a freshman in 2021, Rudolph appeared in seven games and had 21 tackles during the campaign.
He should have two years of eligibility remaining, plus a redshirt season.
While in the portal, Rudolph also had offers from Appalachian State, Marshall, Alabama State, Troy, Arkansas State, and Liberty.
Rudolph was a 3-star prospect out of high school (Park Crossing, H.S.) in the class of 2021. He was ranked the No. 1,417 overall player by the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 158 linebacker. He had an offer from Texas A&M and was on the radar of other FBS programs, but Rudolph’s main options were in the FCS ranks.
Indiana needs to replace the production of Cam Jones at linebacker in 2023. Rudolph is the third player from the portal the Hoosiers have added in the last week, joining Stanford transfer Jacob Mangum-Farrar, and UTEP transfer Darryl Minor.
Linebackers Aaron Casey, Jared Casey and Kaiden Turner all appear to be returning in 2023 for Indiana.
