The wave of portal additions continued through the weekend for IU football.
The Hoosiers added Texas A&M defensive lineman Marcus Burris and Texas Tech defensive lineman Philip Blidi on Sunday.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Burris recorded one tackle in 2022 in eight games for the Aggies. He redshirted his 2021 true freshman season and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
In his career, the Texarkana, Texas product has appeared in eight games.
Hailing from Pleasant Grove H.S., Burris was ranked the No. 20 prospect in Texas, the No. 21 defensive lineman in the country, and the 132nd best recruit overall nationally.
Burris committed to Texas A&M out of high school over offers from Alabama, Arizona, LSU, Miami (FL), Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, Washington, BYU, Houston, and Tulsa.
Blidi joins IU after spending three seasons at Texas Tech.
The 6-foot-3 and 296-pound Blidi played in 12 games for the Red Raiders in 2022. He finished the season with 18 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and one QB hurry. As a sophomore in 2021 he had 16 tackles, two QB Hurries, and 1.5 tackles for loss in 13 games. In his first season in Lubbock in 2020 Blidi played in 10 games and had six tackles.
Blidi played for IU defensive line coach Paul Randolph during his first two seasons in Lubbock when Randolph was a member of the Red Raiders’ coaching staff.
Blidi has two years of eligibility remaining. He also had portal offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Cincinnati, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
