Smith is IU’s third offensive line commit in the 2020 class and 14th player overall. He is also the third commit in the class from the state of Michigan.
Listed as a tackle by the recruiting services, Smith brings Big Ten ready size at 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds.
Smith is rated as a 3-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 175 tackle nationally according to that service.
He told 247Sports that he was impressed with IU after a visit this weekend.
“I loved the campus the coaching staff the facilities and the support system in academics and how they care about you as a person more than a football player,” Smith told 247Sports.
Clearly that good impression turned into a quick commitment decision.
Smith also held offers from West Virginia, Iowa State and others.
